Materials:
1. A piece of anti-dust chalk
2. An electronic balance (± 0.001g)
3. Surface to draw on
2. An electronic balance (± 0.001g)
3. Surface to draw on
Procedure:
Data collection: 1. Record the initial mass of the piece of chalk using the electronic balance. 2. Use the chalk to draw on the surface. 3. Record the final mass of the piece of chalk. Data analysis: 1. Calculate the mass of CaCO3 used up. [Initial Mass(M1) - Final Mass(M2)] 2. Calculate the mass of 1 mole of CaCO3 (≈100g/mol) 3. Find the number of moles of CaCO3 used up. [Mass of CaCO3 used/100] | 4. Calculate the number of atoms of CaCO3 using the number of moles found earlier and Avagadro's number. [Number of moles*6.022*10^23] |
